The stories of Angoulême (1/2)

It’s been quite a while since we’ve posted a story. Christmas, New Year’s Eve and a lot of work got in the way and we haven’t been able to manage it all and still post on the blog at the same pace than before. But there is still hope! We’ve been shooting, editing and working on two stories: the first one is under construction and the second one is being launched today! On January we took some days off to visit a city in the southwestern part of France called Angoulême. We were there during the high point of its yearly calendar – the Festival International de la Bande Dessinée d’Angoulême (or Angoulême International Comics Festival). It is one of the largest comics festival in the world and brings around 200.000 visitors to town, between readers, fans, authors and…

Riding through the southwest of Portugal (2/2)

Last year, we took our first motorcycle trip. We choose it as our first holidays together since the honeymoon that we’ve spent in Bali – we’ve already talked about it here and here. We ended up soaked wet in a one-person tent trying to figure out why the heck did we bump into winter in the middle of august. Eeeh, I guess it wasn’t that bad since we decided to repeat it this year… Actually we had a great time getting to know different and beautiful places in the north of Portugal and Spain (minus the rain…). So this summer we got ready, packed our Honda Deauville and drove to the south. As usually, we didn’t have a proper plan. Just some random ideas of what we wanted that included warm weather, sand on our feet and no worries. I’m going to jump ahead…

The stories of Alentejo and Vicentine coast (1/2)

Before jumping into the post itself, we want to share our latest news: we’re now on YouTube! Check our channel here and subscribe it to know what we’re up to! Before this, we’re only posting them on Vimeo (find our page here) but we decided to spread a little more our work and we happily entered the YouTube community. Yeay! We were also invited to write a post on a local blog from Viseu, our hometown. It was our first time featured on a blog and it was very special because of this connection to it. We’re sorry that is written in Portuguese but you can take a look at it anyway here. Now, let’s focus on our new anygivenplace. This summer we travelled through Alentejo and Vicentine coast. Even though it was a quite relaxed trip, we took some time to (appreciate…

Bali, the magical island (2/2)

posted in: anygivenplace | 1

When editing the video (our first anygivenplace), we’ve realized that we wouldn’t resist to gather in a single post the best of our experience in Bali. We don’t want it to be a tour guide about the island. It’s just our way to frame the pictures (see what we did there?) that we’ve captured on camera.   The last weeks before the wedding were particularly busy. Because of that, we didn’t have our trip planned to the tinniest detail. Oh, who are we kidding? We had only booked the first three night of a 15 day trip. The rest would be improvised as usual… We wanted to make sure someone would pick us up at the airport because we were arriving late at night and the hotel was a bit far. Everything else would be a (great) unknown. Honestly,…

The stories of Bali (1/2)

In 2014, after 5 and a half years of dating, we got married. We wanted to have a special honeymoon to celebrate this new stage of our lives and also to rest from our extremely troubled pre-wedding period. And when I say extremely troubled, I am talking about an almost laughable level of unexpected obstacles – but we’ll save that for another time… The chosen destination was Bali because we thought it would perfectly match diving-into-crystal-clear-waters (my criteria) and getting-to-now-a-different-culture (João’s criteria). Besides that, we wanted to pin the world map on a place that was new to both of us, so we could explore it together. It was challenging e adventurous enough for both os us and it also included a bonus for João: dozens of hours in an airplane and the chance to fly on a A380!…
